Supermarine Spitfire Flypast, RAF Hendon, 12 September 2010

The sound of a single Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight giving a short display at RAF Hendon to mark 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The sound was recorded in a busy crowd but for once, this was the only distraction.

Not sure what mark this was although it sounds like a Griffon. The BBMF operates 2 Mk XIX Spits, so this is either Spitfire PS915 (Mk PRXIX) or Spitfire PM631 (Mk PRXIX). I'd appreciate any further info anyone has.

  • I have never seen a super marine in real. Really have a wish to see it soon. Hope my uncle promised me that he will take me there to visit that place. And by the way, I think there is some error in the audio. It is not playing. Please upload it again. I really want to listen to that clip.
